May, 1968 ... After joining the new IPC broadsheet Sun, one of my first assignments for the newspaper turned out to be the biggest world exclusive in my entire career.

I was sent to cover the student riots in Paris for three months and was the first and only photographer to get pictures inside the Sorbonne which had been occupied by students and volunteer doctors.

I forged a Red Cross pass, borrowed a white coat, and with my Leica loaded with ultra-high speed film and hidden under my coat, I brazened my way in.

I got dramatic shots which were published across three pages including the front page.

A 'herogram' from the night editor was to follow!
